There are these beautiful lines that Meg Ryan's character says to Tom Hanks' character in the film 'Joe and the Volcano':
"MY FATHER SAYS THAT THE WHOLE WORLD IS ASLEEP. EVERYBODY YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY YPOU TALK TO. HE SAYS THAT ONLY A FEW PEOPLE ARE AWAKE, AND THEY LIVE IN A STATE OF CONSTANT, TOTAL AMAZEMENT."
On one hand I feel it's none of my business, that there are all these people who are asleep -- and on the other, it tears up my eyes, and makes my heart bleed, to know how fine the line between being asleep and being awake is... BUT OH! THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO STATES OF BEING -- it's night and day, black and white, heaven and hell-- and it's SO easy to walk across, from one to the other, if we just accept that there is more to know and learn, than we do right now... and start the quest for this knowledge...
Will you be my wayfarer?
