Here is another perspective...
Those moments, when our faith is tested, tend to be the very difficult ones -- people actually question if there's ANYTHING or ANYONE out there that is listening, is going to help in some way or do anything about our suffering etc. etc. To pass this test think of the connection we have with nature... and how we ARE a part of nature--the microcosm of the macrocosm. Human beings are the only species that are very disconnected from nature. But that doesn't stop nature from moving through us just as it does through every thing else.
A good time to remember this is when things are not going well in our lives. Think of the sun, that rises each day, and then at the end of the day sets gently, to rise again the next morning. Our moments of strife are similar to darkness overcoming us, at the end of the day. And when darkness DOES come, what are we expected to do? We turn off the lights and go to bed, to sleep. We KNOW that the sun will rise in the morning, and we will wake up to a new day. We don't stay up to fight our sleep and fret about the darkness. Similarly, faith IS knowing that the sun WILL rise the next morning, and the next, and the next... So, when 'darkness' descends on us, and we have trouble keeping the faith is a good time to remember that THAT sunset is not the last one--and have faith, that the sun will rise again, and a new day will dawn!
(A reminder: there'll be no entry tomorrow, Saturday, March 8.)
