I have some real gems in my collection of articles, quotes and sayings. I am going to share 'The 11 Rules For Being Human' today. When I first saw them, over a decade ago, they were listed as anonymous, but later I found a little book based on these. I don't know which came first - these rules, or that book.
RULE #1
You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.
RULE #2
You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called Life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.
RULE #3
There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error experimentation. The 'failed' experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately 'works'.
RULE #4
A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be repeated to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go to the next lesson.
RULE #5
Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
RULE #6
"There" is no better than "here". When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will look better than "here".
RULE #7
Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.
RULE #8
What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
RULE #9
Your answers lie inside you. The answers to Life's questions lie inside you. All you need do is look, listen, and trust.
RULE #10
You will forget this.
RULE #11
You can remember it whenever you want.
**************************
Powerful - huh? True? You bet! - even if it makes you uncomfortable. The most powerful for me are #s 2, 3, 4 and 7, 8, and 9. Accept them, or don't - the choice is yours. But remember that within this framework, the opportunities for finding and living in JOY are enormous, in fact, every step of the way.

P.S. My request to those who 'borrow' from this blog is to please give adequate credit to the source of the borrowed information - whether me, or books and people I quote from. Thank you.
