Senseless Acts Of Kindness

I chanced upon this song by Kris Kristofferson today - it made me pause and think of how we all like to talk about, and send emails all the way around the world, about stories that move us. I wondered too, about how many of us support any causes, other than our own cause :-)??? I support more than half a dozen - no matter the ups and downs of my life, and a quiet part of me is always content to know that I have regularly contributed to make the world a better place, and therefore feel very qualified to share this song here with everyone -- and pardon me if I'm too much in your face ;-)! I've searched long for the secret to happiness, and 'doing something for others' has always come out tops -- that IS the secret to being happy... especially if we can do it with the nonchalance described in the song: 'So, what's it to you?'

Here Comes That Rainbow Again

The scene was a small roadside cafe,
The waitress was sweeping the floor.
Two truck drivers drinking their coffee.
And two Okie kids by the door.
"How much are them candies?" they asked her.
"How much have you got?" she replied.
"We've only a penny between us."
"Them's two for a penny," she lied.

And the daylight grew heavy with thunder,
With the smell of the rain on the wind.
Ain't it just like a human.
Here comes that rainbow again.

One truck driver called to the waitress,
After the kids went outside.
"Them candies ain't two for a penny."
"So what's it to you?" she replied.
In silence they finished their coffee,
And got up and nodded goodbye.
She called: "Hey, you left too much money!"
"So what's it to you?" they replied.

And the daylight was heavy with thunder,
With the smell of the rain on the wind.
Ain't it just like a human.
Here comes that rainbow again.

Hope that warmed the cockles of your heart...
